Founder and Principal
Jessica has immersed herself in the early childhood education field since beginning her studies in Early Childhood Education at the University of Melbourne in 2003, graduating with an honours degree. During her time there, she was awarded the McGraw-Hill Australia Early Childhood Award. Since then, she has been inspired by the many child-centred approaches to education, in particular, the Reggio Emilia Approach, and strives to weave the essence of her beliefs into the education tapestry of her hometown Johor Bahru, Malaysia. Here, she has founded and been at the helm of ‘Forest of Stars: a Creative Space for Kids’ for the past 7 years, running infant, toddler and preschool ateliers, as well as creative drama programmes. Jessica is also an appointed teacher trainer for ‘Speech Development and Creative Drama’ accredited by ‘London Teacher Training College’. In 2017, Jessica had the privilege of attending the Reggio Emilia international study group and this visit allowed her to delve even deeper into the realms of this beautiful educational approach. Together with her wonderful team, as well as the community of children and families at ‘Forest of Stars’, Jessica is constantly learning and evolving to create a nest for exploration, expression, creativity and learning.
